Spdate is a free adult online dating site that is of an extremely explicit nature. Put simply, this is not the website to sign up to if you are seeking a genuine serious long-term relationship, with members almost exclusively looking for casual encounters. The pornographic nature of the site means that you should only access the site when you are alone, meaning that it is not suitable to access out and about like other hookup sites are. With male members greatly outnumbers females by almost 3-1, added to numerous fake profiles (which are identified as such), you might believe that the site does not provide sufficient opportunity for a heterosexual male to find a willing partner. The website’s design is certainly not amongst the best when it comes to dating sites but, considering that you can utilise Spdate completely free of charge (albeit with premium features also available) you cannot grumble too much.

Search tools

The website’s search tools do not work as effectively as most other dating websites that we have reviewed. When we tried to set the search criteria based on age and location, the results did not correspond with the assigned filters. Rather than featuring a traditional search function that presents a page of profile that most closely match your preferences, Spdate instead has a feature called ‘Discovery’ that is essentially a built-in Tinder app. Here, you have to like or dislike a profile to view the next. It is also not immediately clear where you go to set your search criteria as the small icon is hidden away in the top right-hand corner of the feature. As already pointed out, this was ineffective and did not seem to have any influence on the profiles that were being displayed. There is also no way of setting the feature to view only online users, which is a standard feature amongst most other dating sites.

Making contact

It is very difficult to make contact with a real user on Spdate due to the lack of control over the search filter to find online users. As soon as you register with the website, you will be inundated with messages from profiles that you will notice feature a ‘UP’ icon in the profile image. This stands for ‘Unreal Personality’, signifying a fake profile. While you can message and converse with these accounts, this certainly is not what members will be signing up for as they will harbour intentions of chatting and meeting with real users. Should you find a real user, Spdate does offer a good messaging platform for its members, but it would be nice for the site to make it easier to find real users to utilise the feature with.

The App

Spdate does not offer a mobile app, with users having to access the dedicated mobile site should they wish to use the adult dating service on their smartphone device.

This is the website’s search feature that is pretty much Spdate’s answer to Tinder, with users being asked to like and dislike other users. Members can set the search criteria for this feature, although this did not work as we hoped as part of our review when using Discovery.

However, during our review, we were not able to find a real online user to start a conversation. The basic search functionality limits and hampers the user experience as you cannot edit the preferences half as much as you can on other platforms. If you are looking to sign up to a website for a little bit of fun, then, by all means, register in Spdate purely for the fact that you can access all of the website’s features without committing to any premium subscription. If you are serious about hooking up with someone, however, we would recommend looking elsewhere and considering premium options that offer far more functionality.
